ReBirth Spa has the distinction of being the first hospital-based spa providing spa services specifically for pregnant and lactating women. Not to be left out, however, non-pregnant women and even men are also treated during their hospital stay at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center with spa and salon services. The spa was conceptualized by an obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Rebecca Singson to pamper women through their pregnancy aches and pains as well as to support them through their breastfeeding period. Many women , accustomed to undergoing massage for wellness and relaxation find that they are refused treatment once pregnant. Rightfully so. This is because massage during pregnancy, when done by untrained hands, can lead to a miscarriage or preterm labor. ReBirthSpa has skilled therapists who are trained to avoid these complications. The pregnant woman who experiences backaches, headaches, sciatica (buttocks pains shooting down the legs), leg swelling can all be relieved with ReBirthSpa’s pre-natal massage.

After birth, many women give up breastfeeding because they are not primed prenatally and are unsupported postnatally. ReBirthSpa therapists specialize in lactation massage and breastfeeding counseling. It is a vulnerable time of a woman’s life because the instinct to breastfeed has been killed by social norms and cultural barriers. For Dr. Singson and ReBirthSpa therapists, the prenatal, postpartum and lactation support they offer stems from a profound mission and a firm conviction that breastfeeding is one of the major activities in any woman’s motherhood that can impact both her own health, and more importantly, that of her child.

Because ReBirthSpa believes that health and beauty go hand in hand, the spa has moved to providing salon and spa services not only to pregnant women but to non-pregnant women as well, and even men. Since it is hospital based, the spa provides the services bothe to in-patients during their hospitalization, as well as to the out-patients.
